I wish people would stop talking about Oscar possibilities for Keira Knightley. I mean, come on. I'm excited about the film, but I'm not that excited. Judging from the clips, it's not exactly Oscar material. These kinds of expectations bother me almost as much as the persistent bashing.

Does anybody know if Working Title is in the habit of procuring nominations?

Date: 2005-09-09 01:29 am (UTC)Perhaps the British people will crazy enough to give Keria Knightley a BAFTA (well, it gave Jamie Bell the best actor award a few years ago for Billy Elliot). Who knows. Oscar??? I agree with you. . . the expectation is too much.
PS: Working Title movies that had earned Oscar nominations:
Elizabeth
Fargo
Dead Man Walking
Fargo
Bridget Jones's Diary
Four Weddings and a Funeral
Thirteen
After creating this list, I think the chances for Pride and Prejudice to get nominated isn't that bad.

Shows how well I keep up. I'd forgotten about Fargo, too -- and of course, Elizabeth was before I noticed studio names. heh.
Well, I guess if BJD was nominated, P&P3 can get nominated. I'm still determined to keep my expectations low on that front, however. :)
